MEETING OF THE FIRST DEPUTY MINISTER OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS WITH THE SPECIAL ENVOY OF THE ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (ADB)

The day before, on August 8, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov held a meeting with Special Senior Advisor on Climate Change in the Office of the President of the ADB Warren Evans.

The purpose of the meeting is a consultative mission on the proposed ADB regional program “From Glaciers to Farms” of the Regional Initiative on Financing the Green Climate Fund and the presentation of the draft Concept Note of the regional program.

In his welcoming speech, Azamat Mambetov expressed gratitude to the Asian Development Bank for supporting the Kyrgyz Republic in achieving significant results in the field of disaster risk reduction and outlined the main areas of further cooperation with the ADB.

The meeting also discussed potential projects to support the regional Glaciers to Farms (G2F) programme and site visits to support adaptation and resilience operations in the water and agricultural sectors.

For reference: The draft Concept Note of the regional program "G2F" is designed for 10 years from 2025 to 2034 to support in-demand climate-resilient measures in the sectors of agriculture, water management and social infrastructure using an integrated water resources management structure.

The programme will consist of three main components, including climate information provision through early warning systems, risk-informed decision-making, climate investment planning and financial innovation.
