THE XXV MEETING OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CIS MEMBER STATES ON THE USE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY FOR PEACEFUL PURPOSES WAS HELD IN NIZHNY NOVGOROD (RUSSIA)
The chairmanship of the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes was transferred to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Let us note that today, November 4, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russian Federation, the 25th anniversary meeting of the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes was held.
At the meeting of the Commission, the first issue was the election of the Chairman of the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes, following which a representative from the Kyrgyz Republic was elected, in the person of the First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Mambetov.
The results of the previous year's work were summarized and a report on the activities of the Commission of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes in 2021-2024 was approved.
A report was also heard on the progress of the implementation of the activities of the Interstate Target Program "Reclamation of the Territories of States Affected by Uranium Mining Production", and a number of current issues and documents aimed at further developing cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of nuclear energy were considered.
Based on the results of the reports, issues were discussed on the development of agreed recommendations and solutions on the problems of multilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy development, infrastructure and personnel training.
As part of the meeting, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Mambetov held bilateral meetings with Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Ilkhom Nematov, where the parties exchanged views on current issues and prospects for further cooperation.
And also with the Deputy Director General of the State Corporation Rosatom Nikolay Spassky, where issues of further cooperation in the rehabilitation of territories of the Kyrgyz Republic affected by uranium mining and ore mining operations were discussed.
