MINISTER BOOBEK AZHIKEEV MET WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Boobek Azhikeev met with the delegation of the European Union headed by Ambassador Marilyn Josefson.

During the meeting, the representatives of the delegation presented information on the implementation in Kyrgyzstan of a regional pilot project for Central Asia on satellite communications, providing Internet connection to remote areas of Kyrgyzstan in the context of studying the impact of climate change, mitigation, prevention, forecasting and response to emergencies. 

The key components of the project, implementation timelines, details of application and utilization of satellite data, training, cyber security, and suitable practical solutions for successful implementation of the pilot project were discussed. 

Minister Boobek Azhikeev noted the importance of this pilot project for the promotion of effective disaster management at all stages and expressed his readiness for further joint work, taking into account the wishes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties agreed to continue dialog and cooperation in this direction.
