56TH SESSION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL DEFENSE ORGANIZATION TAKES PLACE IN KYRGYZSTAN

      The 56th session of the Council of the International Civil Defence Organization is taking place today in Bishkek. It is attended by representatives of emergency response services of 24 countries, members of the Executive Board of the IOGO organization, as well as the Secretary General of the International Civil Protection Organization Mariatu Yap.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov stressed that Kyrgyzstan has been a full member of the prestigious organization since 2011. During this time, the country has been able to demonstrate its high level of training in the field of Civil Defence and the experience between countries in this area is the most important.

As noted by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Boobek Azhikeev, the ICDO is the only intergovernmental organization specializing in the field of civil defense and protection at the international level, which includes 60 states uniting the peoples of the world to protect the population, property, material and cultural values, as well as the environment from natural and man-made disasters.

"Kyrgyzstan for the third time becomes the presiding party of the ICDO, the purpose of which is to promote the development of national structures designed to protect the civilian population, as well as to ensure the safety of property and the environment in the event of natural or man-made disasters, as well as improving the professional level of rescuers and specialists", - added the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Azhikeev. 

Recall, the 56th session of the Council of the International Civil Defense Organization in Bishkek will be held from 18 to 19 September.

Within the framework of the 56th session of the Executive Council of the ICDO, the parties will discuss a number of issues related to civil defense and protection of the population at the international level. 

It should be noted that the day before, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Boobek Azhikeev met with the Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Alexander Kurenkov and the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kyamaleddin Heydarov, who arrived to participate in the session of the ICDO Council.
