AID TO PALESTINE

Kyrgyzstan provided humanitarian aid to Palestine.

Important to note that the President Sadyr Japarov, in his speech at the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Riyadh, stated that Kyrgyzstan is ready to provide humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the hardships of the population suffering from violence in the Gaza Strip, where hostilities are ongoing.

On behalf of the Kyrgyz people, the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out the delivery of humanitarian aid. First, the minister, Major-General Boobek Ajikeyev, contacted by phone the head of the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Palestine, Major-General Alabed Ibrahim Abdul Salam Khalil, and discussed the most necessary items for the mobilization of humanitarian aid.

The Palestinian minister stated that the shortage of clean water, food and medicine in the refugee camp has intensified.

On behalf of the Kyrgyz Republic, 5.5 tons of humanitarian aid containing food, drinking water, bedding and shoes were delivered on December 22-23, 2023 in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Emergencies and Natural Disasters. A cargo plane flying from Moscow landed at an Egyptian airfield adjacent to the Gaza Strip, and the aid was handed over to volunteers of the Red Crescent Society.

According to the latest data, at least 23 000 people were killed and more than 57,000 were injured due to the air and ground operations in Gaza led by the Israeli army. The number of civilian casualties is increasing day by day. Around 60% of the city's infrastructure was destroyed, and the refugee camps are starving due to the lack of food, medicine and water.

The World Health Organization is alarming the international communities about the humanitarian crisis leading to an increase in infectious diseases in the region.

In its turn, Kyrgyzstan is confident that the parties will settle the situation through negotiations and mutual understanding, and the war that is causing the death of innocent people will stop soon.
