MES KR AND STATE ATOMIC ENERGY CORPORATION "ROSATOM" DISCUSSED SUCCESSFUL COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF RADIATION SAFETY AND PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

 

On October 29, 2023 in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), on the margins of the 24th meeting of the CIS Member States Commission on the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes, the First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Mambetov met with Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director General - Director of the International Activities Block of Rosatom State Corporation. 

During the meeting they discussed successful cooperation within the framework of implementation of the Interstate Target Program "Reclamation of Territories of States Affected by Uranium Mining Operations". 

As Azamat Mambetov noted, all works performed under the Interstate Target Program strictly comply with national and international radiation safety standards.

In addition, at the meeting, it was noted with special satisfaction about the completion of works on the reclamation of the tailing dump "Kak" in Min-Kush settlement and transfer of hazardous waste from the tailing dump "Taldy-Bulak" to the tailing dump "Dalneye", as well as the continuation of work on the transfer of the tailing dump "Tuyuk-Suu" to the tailing dump "Dalneye".

Taking into account the successful implementation of the Program and longstanding fruitful cooperation aimed at reducing the risk of disasters with radio ecological consequences, the parties discussed the continuation of cooperation on bringing former mining facilities in a safe environmental condition on the territory of Kyrgyzstan in a bilateral format at Kyzyl-Zhar, Tuya-Moyun and Kadzhi-Sai sites.

ROSATOM highly appreciated the role of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic as a reliable and responsible partner in the implementation of this program.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in further successful and fruitful cooperation and exchange of experience aimed at reducing the risk of disasters with radioecological consequences.
