IN LONDON, THE HEAD OF THE MINISTRY OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS TOOK PART IN THE MEETING OF THE ASSEMBLY OF DONORS SIR FOR THE COUNTRIES OF CA

The day before, the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Boobek Azhikeev, took part in the meeting of the Assembly of Donors of the Environmental Rehabilitation Account (ERA) for Central Asian countries, which is taking place in London (Great Britain).

Within the framework of the meeting, a bilateral meeting was held between Minister Boobek Azhikeev and Director of the Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Head of the Turkish Regional Office, Ms. Yasemin Girici.

During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EBRD were discussed, as well as opportunities for joint work to reduce the risks of natural disasters and adapt to climate change.

The meeting presented the key areas of activity of the EBRD regional office in Istanbul, which promotes sustainable economic development and improves living standards in the region, as well as provides advice and assistance in the field of infrastructure and financial systems development.

B. Azhikeev expressed interest in continuing cooperation with the EBRD, including issues of strengthening emergency preparedness and response systems, modernizing infrastructure and addressing climate change and natural disasters. The possibilities of attracting Turkish experience in the field of post-disaster recovery and sustainable city development were discussed.

In turn, Ms. Yasemin Giriji confirmed the EBRD’s readiness to support Kyrgyzstan in implementing these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening cooperation and joint work to address common challenges.

The outcome of the meeting was an agreement to develop cooperation in the implementation of initiatives aimed at increasing Kyrgyzstan’s resilience to natural disasters.
